Popularity of Vodka
Vodka has come a long way, since it was first produced 900 years ago, by Russian and Polish commoners. Vodka has become the world's number one selling spirit. In the beginning of the 20th century vodka was a rather unknown drink outside of Russia, Poland and the Scandinavian countries. There were no vodka exporters, exporting goods outside of these countries.
In today's world, vodka is the favorite choice for trendy and fashionable cocktails featured in endless Hollywood movies and TV shows. Today the United States is one of the biggest vodka importers.
In the US, vodka accounts for 25% of all distilled spirits sold and in the United Kingdom, vodka is the fastest growing beverage in the spirits category, surpassing traditional beverages such as whiskey, gin and brandy. Sales of vodka rose steadily by an incredible growth rate of 32% for super premium brands. Due to this high demand and popularity many new vodka manufacturers have entered the vodka exporting business.
